Many soap makers (including myself) prefer wooden soap molds that form a loaf of soap. Because my molds offer an integrated cutting slot, this "soap loaf" can then be easily sliced into multiple perfectly formed bars using a soap cutter.
Why do I personally like and recommend wood soap molds? Well, for one, they allow you to create large batches (or small batches if you'd like) without the hassle of pouring your liquid saponified soap into multiple individual cavities like you have to do with single bar mold types. Another great benefit of using a loaf soap mold made out of wood is that the wood helps insulate the curing soap.

As you saw in the video above, a wonderful thing about these wood soap molds is that, unlike most on the market today, both ends are completely removable, allowing you to take out your soap with greater ease. This will also allow you to slide the soap loaf through the mold as you make your cuts.
Although the built in miter box feature is optional, I feel that it's a great addition to ensure perfectly cut bars each and every time. This soap mold is made out of premium pine and will fit 2 pounds of soap. It's perfect for experimental batches or for the hobbyist who only creates a small amount of soap at a time. The inside measurements of this mold are 7in Long x 3.5in Wide x 2.75in High and will make 7 one inch thick bars. When finished, your soap will be approximately 2.5 inches high which is considered to be an ideal size by many. 3 Pound Wooden Soap Mold (includes lid)
This mold will fit 3 pounds of soap and is made out of premium pine. The inside dimensions are 10in Long x 3.5in Wide x 2.75in High. The mold will make 10 one inch thick bars. Your soap will be approximately 2.5 inches high leaving about a quarter of an inch at the top of the mold.
