Soybean Oil Soap
Soybean oil soap has one main draw to soap makers: it offers many of the same characteristics as tallow or lard soap without the incorporation of animal fats within your products. Therefore, some people use this ingredient as a vegan alternative. Soybean oil (vegetable shortening), however, is not the best ingredient for soap making. | If you're planning to use soybean oil as an animal fat alternative, I highly recommend that you consider using palm oil instead. Palm oil has so much more to offer to your soaps then soybean oil. | If you're looking for the best all natural skin care ingredient for soap making, soybean oil is not really it! In fact, soybean oil soap does not really offer any real skin care benefits. Now don't get me wrong, soybean oil is not bad for your skin but it's not good either. Some people consider it to be a skin care neutral because it does not offer any benefits or detriments. Despite the downsides there are some positives to using this oil for soap making. - It's extremely cheap
- it's easy to find
- It offers a decent lather to your finished product.
That being said, there is still absolutely no reason to use soybean oil instead of palm oil. If you do decide to use soybean oil in your soaps, make sure that you purchase the highest grade possible. Also, do not use it as a majority oil, but use it in conjunction with other more beneficial ingredients like olive oil and coconut oil.
