Kukui Nut Oil
Expressed from the nuts within the fruit of the kukui nut tree is the amazing kukui nut oil - a natural skin care ingredient highly regarded on the island of Hawaii. In fact, this tree is loved so much by the local islanders that it eventually became Hawaii’s official state tree. Is kukui nut oil, however, as good for the skin as they claim it to be? On this page, we are going to take a brief look at the benefits of this natural skin care nutrient and answer this question for ourselves. Here are some of the benefits: - Pure Kukui nut oil is great for soothing sunburns.
- It heals dry/chapped skin.
- It alleviates the symptoms of eczema
- It helps heal acne
- It alleviates the symptoms of psoriasis (although there is no cure for psoriasis, kukui soap and psoriasis relief go hand in hand)
- It contains antioxidants that help fight off damaging free radicals
In addition, this oil has large amounts of vitamins A, C, and E each of which is essential for healthy skin. It’s true that many oils contain natural skin nourishing vitamins, but unlike some other nutrients, this ingredient penetrates the skin extremely well actually allowing you to experience all the benefits. Keep in mind that, unlike some other oils, it does this without leaving a greasy film on your skin! So, is the oil of the kukui nut as good for the skin as they claim it to be? I think it’s safe to say that the answer is a resounding YES! Now that you know the benefits, how should you incorporate this ingredient into your skin care regimen? Although many kukui nut oil products do exist, I highly recommend that you use all natural homemade kukui soap. | Why? Because many creams, lotions, ointments and whatever else you may find in the skin care market may use harmful synthetic ingredients to cut costs, almost canceling out the benefits of this nutrient. |

The Basics of Using Kukui Nut Oil in Soap Making
If you do decide to make kukui soap, you can either add 1 tablespoon of the oil to your mixture after saponification has already occurred, or you can add it at the very beginning and allow it to react with the lye to form soap.I strongly recommend just adding a small amount at the end because of the oils cost. You will gain the same exact skin care benefits as you would by using a large amount for a soap making base oil with much less expense. If you do decide to allow this ingredient to saponify by using it at the beginning of the soap making reaction, only allow it to take up about 12% (absolute maximum) of the total oils used.
