Honey Skin Care Products

There are a large variety of honey skin care products on the market today that can do wonders for your skin. Some, however, can do more harm then good. Today, I am going to discuss which ones you should use for the best results, the secret benefits of honey for the skin, and how to create your own all natural honey soap.

Unfortunately, all honey skin care products are not created equal. In the commercial cosmetic industry, As you probably already know, synthetics and chemicals are often used in conjunction with beneficial ingredients in order to cut manufacturing costs and increase the shelf life of a product.

The detriments of unnatural elements within a skin care product can often far outweigh the benefits of other natural ingredients.

In order to see real results using honey as a skin care nutrient, you need to go 100% all natural! Keep in mind that honey rarely makes up the majority of a skin care product, but is merely an added ingredient. Therefore, you need to also consider the quality of the other substances being used.

So, how can I get my hands on a honey skin care product that is 100% all natural and safe? Well, you have two options:

  1. You can learn how to make soap and create your own homemade honey skin care products right from the comfort of your kitchen.
  2. You can buy all natural honey soap from a reputable homemade soap dealer.

Here are a few places where you can buy real homemade honey soap that is made naturally in small batches and is free from any harmful additives:

Honey Skin Care Benefits

When I first heard that honey could be used as an all natural skin care nutrient, I must say that I was rather shocked. In fact, honey is probably the very last thing that I would ever think of putting on my skin. Let me tell you... Now, I'm a believer!

So what makes honey such a great additive for natural skin care products?

  • Honey is an all natural humectant as it literally attracts water out of the air and onto the skin.
  • Honey is made up of numerous anti-oxidants, keeping the skin safe from damaging free radicals.
  • Honey has antimicrobial properties, making it great for treating acne.
  • Honey is mild enough for people with sensitive skin and even babies.

Using honey skin care products will allow you to take advantage of all these benefits and see great improvements in your complexion.

Honey for Soap Making

Incorporating honey into your soap recipe is easy. Simply follow the cold process soap making tutorial and then add the honey at the very end right before saponification has fully taken place. This should be done prior to adding the essential oils, colorants and other skin care nutrients immediately after your soap begins to trace.

Some of the benefits of using honey in soap making include:

  • The creation of an incredibly useful honey skin care product that you and your acquaintances won't be able to get enough of.
  • A relaxing sweet scent that you will simply love!
  • An all around better lather for your natural soap bar.

NOTE: Do not add the honey after your soap has completely saponified as this ingredient should be incorporated into the recipe at a light trace.

How much honey should be used? In order to create beneficial honey skin care products that take full advantage of this natural nutrient, I advise adding the honey somewhat liberally.

Although most soap makers insert about 1 tablespoon of honey per pound of soap making oils, I recommend using approximately 2 tablespoons per pound of soap making oils.

If the cold process method is just not for you, you can also create a honey skin care soap by using the melt and pour soap making method. All you have to do is use one of the readily available honey melt and pour soap bases that are out there on the market. The melt and pour technique is much simpler and perfect for beginners who want to create their own all natural skin care products right away.
